Thriving in a Noisy World Manifesto

  1. We need both solitude and community to thrive.

  2. To design work and a life we love, we need to embrace our temperament and strengths.

  3. We all have a powerful inner teacher to guide the way.

  4. Solitude fosters clarity, creativity, emotional balance, and connection. Leaders need solitude to be effective.

  5. Between every stimulus and response, there is a space. Solitude give us the space to develop a creative response rather than just reacting.

  6. Silence is not an absence of sound but an absence of noise.

  7. Quiet spaces are think tanks for the soul.

  8. We have agency to be intentional about our use of technology, information diet, and the soundscape of our life.

  9. The quality of our listening and questions determines the quality of our conversations.

  10. There is great power in sharing our stories and exploring what it means to thrive in a noisy world together.
